Description: This bird frequented my feeders for several weeks. When it first appeared its left foot was dangling by threads of connective tissue. The foot eventually fell off, leaving the sharp broken end of the tarsometatarsus exposed, but the bird adapted to balancing on one foot or, as here, leaning lightly on the stub.
