Description: This mixed flock of Semipalmated, Least, and White-rumped sandpipers was very skittish, feeding feverishly but taking flight at the slightest provocation as the southerly winds and approaching dusk seemed to urge them northward. These and other small, similar species of Calidris are often collectively called "peeps."
